This curvaceous glass facility on the banks of the Salford Quays offers numerous galleries with plenty of space and natural light. Famous for its collection of works by L.S. Lowry, a popular British artist who created ghostly figures and enigmatic drawings, there are also installations by other regional and international contemporary artists. ArtWorks allows visitors to experience art firsthand, entering a padded Perception Room and taking part in a digital mural that responds to sound and movement. The Lowry also houses two theatres: the Lyric Theatre seats 1700, and the Quays Theatre seats 466.
